6 Quick-Fire Home Remedies To Get Rid of Acne and Pimples Overnight

It’s almost that day that you’ve been waiting for a while now and you wake up the morning before excited about it, only to find out that you’ve got a visitor. That’s right, its the trusty pimple that never forgets to show up on any special occasion in your life!

But fret not, your day is not going to be ruined! There are a few home remedies that you can try to get rid of this pesky visitor overnight. Here are 6 of them:

1. Ice It Good

In many ways a pimple is an inflammation of the skin. One of the best ways to reduce inflammation (swelling) is by icing it, so why not try icing the pimple too! You’ll need to wrap an ice cube in a piece of cloth and hold it on the pimple for a few seconds. Repeat, leaving a few minutes in between. Th ice increases blood flow, reduces redness and cleans the pore of dirt and oil.

2. Don’t Skimp on the Face Wash

Sounds pretty simple, but don’t skimp on the face wash! Pimples and acne are caused by dirt and oil that accumulate on our faces throughout the day. When these pollutants clog our pores, the skin gets inflamed and out pops a pimple. That’s why its important to wash your face often. Water is good and all, but a good face wash will do a much better job of getting all the grease out. Think of it like washing a dish with just water vs water and soap; we all know which does the better job!

3. Get Steamy!

Steam is one of the best treatments for your skin, even better than any cream or lotion you’ll get anywhere. That’s because steam opens up your pores and allows them to breathe, while also getting rid of pollutants like dirt and oil. You’ll sense your pore stretch and your skin will feel amazingly refreshed afterward! You could buy yourself a steamer for not too much money, or pot of boiling water is good enough too.

4. The Toothpaste Trick

So many people swear by he old toothpaste trick, and it’s not going to take any effort so why not give it a try? Basically, you’ll just need to dab a little bit of white toothpaste (not gel), and let it dry for at least half an hour. Wash off and repeat as necessary.

Warning! One thing to note with this trick is that most dermatologists wouldn’t recommend it because some people’s skin might be allergic to the chemicals in toothpaste. Therefore, make sure to dab a little bit on your hand and test it out before using it on a pimple.

5. Hydrocortisone Cream To The Rescue

This is a type of tropical steroid that you can find at any drugstore and you should be able to buy it without a prescription. Although it’s technically not a “home” remedy, it is one of the cheapest and fastest ways to get rid of a pimple. It is commonly used to treat inflammation of the skin, which is why its perfect. Do read the directions of use on the manual as different brands will have different dosages, but as a general rule it’s safe to apply the cream directly on the pimple up to twice daily.

6. Crush It With Aspirin

Turns out, aspirin isn’t just good for a headache! But instead of drinking it as you usually would, you’ll need to make an aspirin mask which would be about 4-5 uncoated aspirin tablets crushed with two tablespoons of water. Apply the mixture onto the pimple and wash after 10-15 minutes. This works because aspirin, again, is mainly used to bring down swelling and inflammation.
